A journey of dedication and growth

In the ever-changing realm of corporate accounting at Amsted Industries, Brice Humpolick has exemplified dedication and a commitment to personal and professional growth. Currently holding the title of Senior Manager in the Corporate Accounting group at Amsted Industries, Brice’s journey showcases his adaptability and his wide-ranging contributions to the organization.

Brice began his career as an External Auditor at Deloitte and Touche in Chicago. Eager to gain a deeper insight into business operations, he chose to take an interview with Amsted Industries. At the time, Brice wasn’t familiar with Employee Stock Ownership Plans and company culture was not top of mind during the interview process. However, as he learned about fellow professionals who had joined Amsted and developed thriving careers, and witnessed the organization’s commitment to employee development, he soon realized that he belonged in Amsted’s employee ownership culture.

“Having now worked for Amsted for over ten years, I can say that the people are very genuine, the development is real, and the culture has been a surprise bonus that ultimately has been one of the main reasons I have stayed.”

After joining Amsted Industries in 2014 as an Internal Auditor, Brice went on to spend 7 years working as part of business turn around teams with Amsted’s commercial vehicle business unit, ConMet, where he held the position of Plant Controller in Portland, Oregon, from 2015 to 2018, followed by the role of US Plastics Controller in Asheville, North Carolina, from 2018 to 2021. These roles afforded him a comprehensive perspective and the opportunity to engage with various aspects of the business in order to help the business show marked improvements.

“I’m grateful for the opportunities that I have had to be a part of multiple business turn arounds. Each and every day was a developmental opportunity for me as well as an opportunity to help the business get better and ultimately deliver more value to our employee owners. I think back to the challenges and how much I learned from them and the great people that I worked with. This experiential development and the ability to learn from mistakes, along with the ownership to leave things better than you found it, is core to the employee ownership culture.”

Brice’s journey came full circle as he returned to Amsted’s Chicago headquarters in 2021, now holding the role of Senior Manager in Corporate Accounting.

As a member of Amsted’s Corporate Accounting group, Brice provides leadership, support, and developmental training for the corporate accounting team. The corporate accounting team is responsible for ensuring the provision of timely and accurate financial information to executive leadership and lenders. The team also provides a wide array of support to the business units. Brice’s willingness to confront challenges head-on, experiment with new approaches, and share his insights with the team has been a significant contributor towards the success of Amsted’s Corporate Accounting group. His focus on the development of the team and providing a high level of customer service to the business units has not only provided a stable foundation for the business unit needs to be met, but also exceeded, improving transparency of the interlinked processes, and ultimately reducing workloads.

A culture of giving back

With over a decade of experience at Amsted Industries, Brice has seen and been involved in initiatives that contribute to the betterment of their communities, from local clean-up events to dedicated support for youth education programs. Amsted employees actively serve on leadership boards for various community initiatives, displaying a strong commitment to giving back and making a tangible difference in the areas they call home.

“It makes me proud that the company that I work for shares similar values as myself, and the people that I work with also care deeply about the success of the communities around them.”

Looking ahead, Brice continues to feel lucky to be a part of a company that is committed to employee development and giving back to local communities. While he anticipates the business landscape will continue to evolve rapidly, Brice is confident in Amsted’s ability to adapt and prosper, bolstered by its exceptional team and employee ownership culture.
