Paralegal
Chicago, Illinois, USA
Amy Nizzere began her career as a paralegal at the respected law firm Fitch Even from 2012 to 2018. She joined the Amsted team in May 2018, bringing her extensive experience to a dynamic in-house legal team. Today, she plays a vital role in the legal operations for all operating companies under the Amsted umbrella. Her responsibilities include supporting the management of patent and trademark portfolios, reviewing agreements, and other projects such as planning Amsted’s yearly environmental managers meeting.
Amy was initially attracted to Amsted by their unique Employee Stock Ownership Plan (ESOP), a benefit that she recognizes many people will never have the opportunity to experience. But what truly drives Amy’s commitment to the company is her personal alignment with Amsted’s focus on sustainability and safety.
“Amsted’s dedication to sustainability not only resonates with my sense of responsibility, but also ensures Amsted's longevity,” Amy says. “Safety, in my view, should never be optional, and Amsted's emphasis on this critical aspect is equally as important to me.”

Also key to Amy’s success at Amsted is the supportive and collaborative culture she has found within the company. She works alongside dedicated colleagues who provide an open-door policy for answering questions, actively support her success, and ensure she has the tools and opportunities to thrive. The work-life balance at Amsted is something she greatly values, allowing her to excel in her career while being present at home.
One of Amy’s most impactful accomplishments at Amsted has been her pivotal role in taking the company’s intellectual property portfolio paperless.
“When I started, we were just at the beginning stages of being paperless and there was an entire file room full of files,” explains Amy. “Now, there is no more paper. We can quickly run reports and files are instantly accessible from anywhere with an internet connection.”
Going paperless isn’t the only thing that’s changed since Amy joined Amsted. She’s excited about the company’s modernization since then, including a new website, office space, and an array of programs aimed at enhancing employees’ personal and professional lives.
Looking ahead, Amy envisions her career at Amsted continuing to advance. She believes her aspirations align with Amsted’s ongoing commitment to innovation and progress, ensuring the company remains at the forefront of its industries for years to come.
