Chicago, Illinois – Amsted Rail, a global leader in integrated railcar systems and components, is proud to be a co-host of the 20th International Wheelset Congress (IWC), the oldest railway technical conference in the world. As one of the premier international rail conferences, the IWC gathers experts from the international rail community to promote the advancement of rail wheelset components to improve productivity, efficiency and safety of rail transportation.
Amsted Rail, along with co-host MxV Rail (formerly TTCI), is hosting this year’s IWC at the Drake Hotel in downtown Chicago from May 8-11, 2023.
“Chicago is the epicenter of the North American rail system, and home to Amsted Rail’s global headquarters,” said Amsted Rail Vice President of Global Engineering Jay Monaco, a member of the 20th ICW technical committee. “We’re excited for the opportunity to bring the IWC community to Chicago, a city that is rich with history, experts and enthusiasts of rail.”
The four-day program, themed “The Interdependent Ecosystem of Wheelsets,” will feature more than 70 technical papers from 20 different countries on six continents, in addition to networking opportunities and an optional technical tour. Over 300 attendees are expected from freight and transit railway operations around the world.
With few exceptions, the IWC is held once every three years, and was last hosted in North America in 2004. It is a rare opportunity for rail operators, equipment builders, and component suppliers, along with academic, government, and regulatory and standards organizations from across the globe to come together to share insights and knowledge that will help progress the global rail industry.
